Nature around Faxe

Along the beach, shaded and sheltered by the beeches, you can follow the road on foot or by bike and experience game, birds and a diversity of wild flowers.

Faxe Bay
Here you will find Strandgård deer park, Sibiria and Vemmetofte set with forest to one side and water on the other. Swans and ducks peacefully rock in the water while the pheasant chatters loudly in the forest. The 30 km. Faxe coast line is part of the 6000 km. long North Sea walking route that stretches from Scotland to Norway.
Whether going by bike or car you’ll experience the idyllic and winding roads that join town and country, and where the countryside changes from rolling green hills to flat land. Further inland is Haslev with beautiful lakes and forest encircling Gisselfeld and Bregentved Manors.
Lakes and forest encircling Gisselfeld and Bregentved Manors
Using a pair of binoculars you can observe the rich bird life in the 13 hectare Great Nielstrup Lake surrounded by field and meadows. The lake acts as a sactuary for the black-necked grebe and, in particular, Grey geese and Canada geese. In the forests by Gisselfeld a number of smaller lakes can be found.
In the southern part of the Faxe region is ’Feddet’ with its spectacular landscape. ’The moor’ is at the tip of the peninsula and is fringed by white sandy beaches as far as you can see. Pine forests and heather moor abut the beaches. Unique! Visit the bird observatory tower at the southern point and enjoy the many birds resting here during autumn, winter and spring. The area is an internationally recognised protected bird sanctuary.

At Faxe Tourist Information you’ll find leaflets on walking and cycle tracks.
